Although set in a king’s court and about love, “Sir Orfeo” depicts a starkly different
representation of love, loss and desire than does it original, Ovid’s “Orpheus and
Eurydice.” Identify some of the differences in the treatment of love, loss and desire
as they emerge in “Sir Orfeo” and try to describe in more comprehensive terms how
the latter composition diverges from that of Ovid and, if you like, speculate as to
why. Please contextualize your response and support your assertions with
evidence.
