· Offer a short overview of securitisation, setting out its core tenets and assumptions;
· Identify the process through which issues become securitised;
· Critically reflect on the strengths and weaknesses of securitisation;
· Use appropriate examples to illustrate your argument;
· Identify key scholars and thinkers who have contributed to the debate over securitisation.
The essay require the following:
· Evidence of understanding and knowledge of securitisation;
· Your ability to reflect critically and to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the theory;
· Awareness of the theory’s utility, and limitations, for thinking about international security issues;
· Your ability to articulate your views and arguments in a clear and appropriate structure, tone and style, including an introduction, main body of analysis and conclusion.
