My placement was in old people medicine.
Mr David,
Mr David was 70, comes in the service with diabetes and in beginning of dementia. in this particular day, MR D was refusing to have is medication and was very agitated. the nurse tall him it was very important to have is medication, but he declined, but the nurse insisted, Mr D was so upset that he called the nurse “woman” she then lost it all, she started shouting at him, saying he was very rude and was saying nasty things to her, it was a proper discussion in the room. Everything ended up in minutes with the patient taking the medication, but still very very upset.
after it, the nurse say it was wrong of her to discuss like that, and I should never do so.
