Identify a real work health sector topic where a
Public Policy (not internal policy) is needed to address a key issue and create a positive
change. Explore the issue to create a proposal advocating for change being sure to research
the organization and the presenting need for change. The Policy should be a proposed
change to law or regulation.
The written proposal for change should include the following:
• an overview of topic/issue
• identification of the policy change/solution needed
• justification for the policy change/solution
• key stakeholders involved
• a brief equity analysis
• procedures and practices involved
• ethical considerations
• a clearly described proposed change (i.e. policy change),
• impact of the proposed change (i.e. policy change) on stakeholders including vulnerable
adults, and
• how you would influence/advocate and lobby for change
• who would be for and against this proposal?
o what would the arguments be on both sides?
This academic paper should cite relevant resources to support all declarative statements
and conclusions using proper APA writing style.
Helpful hint: Look at the 10 bullet points, if you can’t address each of them in your proposal, you can’t get those points. So, for example bullet 4: an overview of the professional organizations or associations, regulatory agencies and state laws involved – if your proposal doesn’t affect any regulatory agencies, professional orgs or state laws – you’re going to miss out and you’re probably not looking at a big enough impact.
The change proposal needs to address all the following,
Identification of the change initiative and organizational background information;
justification for the needed change;
key stakeholders involved;
an overview of the professional organization or association, regulatory agency, and state laws involved;
the procedures and practices involved;
the ethical considerations;
a proposed change including changes to policies, procedures, and/or practices;
the impact on stakeholders resulting from the change; and
ways in which you would influence, advocate, and lobby for the proposed change.
The proposal should be written as an academic paper using concepts from the course materials and research using relevant and credible resources. All citations and the reference list should follow APA writing style guidelines. In addition, students are expected to design a “quick pitch” in order to articulate and advocate as if in the position of a healthcare administrator. (SLO 1-4)
This paper should be 6-8 pages.
My proposal: Problem- The new report highlights that 5.5% of children under the age of 19 were uninsured, largely because of a decline in public coverage.
Proposal: changing eligibility based on income satisfy the specific policy proposal? Families with income at or below 250% of Federal Poverty Guidelines but above 200% will be eligible for Minnesota state insurance.
