Describe your thoughts on the experience you had. What are you expecting? What were you hoping to learn? Help us to see where you were before so that we can better understand the impact the experience had.

In order to foster your ability to integrate your learning and make connections between what you’re learning in class and what you are learning beyond the classroom, you will be asked to reflect beyond the Classroom (BTC) experiences from the perspective of your different kinds of growth across the semester. These questions can help you brainstorm which experience to focus on for each category

PROMPT
1. Self as Self – In the first 4 weeks of the semester, you will learn as much about yourself as you do about the NSU community. What is an experience you had that allowed you to see yourself differently? How have you grown personally in these first few weeks of the semester?

You will critically look back at what you experienced, what you learned from it, and what you will think or do differently as a result of the experience. For the reflections, you will produce a 250- to 500-word written reflection. Make sure that your reflection addresses each of these elements:

Prior to the experience: Describe your thoughts on the experience you had. What are you expecting? What were you hoping to learn? Help us to see where you were before so that we can better understand the impact the experience had.

What did you experience? Briefly describe the experience: What happened? What did you see? How did you respond? Who was there? How did the experience begin or end?

Describe how the experience connects to a larger concept or issue you have seen in your first semester at NSU, such as campus culture, wellness, academic success, or transitioning to college in general.

So what did you learn beyond the classroom? How and why was this experience important to you? How can this experience be beneficial to your success?

Now what will you do with what you have learned? How will you change the way you look at it? How will do something differently? How will you take new action toward your goals as a result of this experience?
