There are 2 parts to this week’s discussion.
This week, as you read the unit’s content,
Research any disability violations and related lawsuits in your current local region or profession.
Then, discuss a brief plan on how you would limit these kinds of disability violations in your current or future workplace.
Then answer the discussion question on microaggressions.
Microaggressions
“Microaggressions are the everyday verbal, nonverbal, and environmental slights, snubs, or insults, whether intentional or unintentional, which communicate hostile, derogatory, or negative messages to target persons based solely upon their marginalized group membership” (Sue, 2010).
Share an example from your life, one you witnessed, or a hypothetical example of a microaggression. What was your reaction? Discuss why microaggressions are harmful. Provide supporting evidence of the negative impact of microaggressions.
