Topic Selection. Pick one of the following based off the UN list of Sustainable Development Goals:
Both assignments will be persuasive and should demonstrate your critical thinking skills. The italics portion of this list are meant to help you with brainstorming. You do not have to answer those questions specifically.
Good health and well-being. What can managers do to promote employee wellness? How can larger scale changes be made to improve employee health across a large organization?
Decent work and economic growth. The goal for the UN is for people to have “quality jobs.” What’s a quality job? How can we promote that in the United States? How could larger corporations promote that globally?
Reduced inequalities. Particularly when considering global business, what can organizations do to reduce poverty globally?
Peace, justice, and strong institutions. Stand up for human rights. How can businesses address practices considered unethical or illegal in the United States? For example, consider bribery or political corruption.
Presentation Assignment
Briefly describe the issue or problem (your group can narrow it down to a particular area)
Provide 3 or more examples of what businesses have done to help address this issue already
Identify effective components and challenges or mistakes of these solutions/actions
You have two options for the final component. Choose one.
Persuade the audience that one of the solutions would be more effective than the others. Suggest feasible steps toward improving these programs and suggest ways a company can be more effective in tackling these issues
OR
Explain what we should learn from these programs and what you propose a Dallas-area company should do to address the issue.
