Discussion #1-Research in Developmental Psychology
Context: COVID 19
For this Discussion you will find a current article on how COVID 19 is or could be affecting people-in terms of psychological health, development, physical health, relationships, emotional well-being etc… A website is provided. Then you will be finding a primary source article that was a reference for the article you chose. Most of them are listed at the bottom of the article.
In order to get to the primary source, you will most likely need to go into the SCCC Library and search the databases—Psych Articles carries most of the Journals that you will need.
Next you will develop a discussion post around the two articles. You will summarize the first article, and then analyze the second article.
The summary of the first article is self-explanatory, but here are the general questions to answer.
What was the premise of the article?
What domain of development did the article focus on?
What did the authors claim that COVID 19 affected specifically?
What research did the authors site in their article?
The primary source should then be analyzed.
What was the hypothesis of the study?
Who were the subjects
What were the variables—independent and dependent if experimental: just the variables if descriptive or correlation
What were the results?
Then write a short conclusion. Based on the 2 articles what can you conclude about the possible effects of COVID 19 on this particular area of psychological, physical, cognitive, emotional or social development?
