nurse practitioners should use appropriate depression screening tools to accurately assess for depression in this population, to ask culturally appropriate questions about sadness, fatigue, disinterest in daily life, and support systems. Health care professionals, exposed to a culturally appropriate education program about depression in women, can make a difference in identifying depression and treating it appropriately.
