Paper details:
Overview: For this assignment, you will be required to (a) identify two research articles in peer-reviewed journals on a topic that interests you (b) find the articles in an electronic journal and/or at the library (c) carefully review the articles and extract information on the concepts we have been discussing this semester and (d) discuss strengths/limitations, similarities/differences, and ideas for future research.
Specific Requirements:
1. One-page summary of each article that includes a description of the following:
a. Purpose of the study
b. Variables (dependent, independent, control)
c. Stated or implied hypothesis/hypotheses
d. Participants and how they were chosen
e. Measures used to assess the dependent and independent variables (e.g., observation of classroom behavior, attitude questionnaire)
f. Whether the study was experimental or non-experimental. Explain why.
2. One to two-page comparison and discussion of the articles, that includes attention to the following:
a. Similarities or differences in how researchers approached the question. Did they use similar or different designs? Did that make sense given the specific research question? Were the conclusions different? Why might that be?
b. Strengths/limitations. Did the question match the research design? Did the authors neglect to address potential confounding variables? Which variables and why do you think they might be important?
c. Your own assessment of possible follow-up questions or ideas for additional research. Do you think it would be useful to test the hypothesis in a different sample or with a different methodology? Why? How might results differ?
