Cover Page●Introduction: Introduces the problem you are trying to solve. This should end with athesis statement. (If you are not discussing a problem, you can just introduce the theory!)
●Theory: Discuss the theory at length. It should be clear you understand the theory! Is itmicro/macro? Are there any clear assumptions of your theory? Does it explain specificcrimes or is it a general theory?
●Empirical Status of the Theory: Does the research support your theory? Be specific! Talkabout the studies, their methods, how they measure concepts. (Thisiswhereyouwilluseyourpeer-reviewedarticles!!!!!!)
●Application of the Theory: Apply the theory you have chosen to your problem.○If there is already research on your problem with the theory you have chosen talkabout it! If not, find research that has applied the theory similarly. (Example: Imay not find a research paper that uses social disorganization in Louisville, KYBUT I can find research that uses social disorganization SOMEWHERE!)
●Policy Implications: Based on the theory you have chosen, how can you solve yourparticular problem? What other types of policies can come from your theory to help curbcrime?○If programs/policies exist that utilize your theoretical concepts–talk about them!Do they work?
