Aims And Learning Outcomes For The Unit
The aim of this unit is to review basic pharmacology and routes of drug administration that health professionals need to be aware of to support their roles in medications management. On completion of this unit, students should achieve the following learning outcomes:
Demonstrate a critical understanding of what pharmacology is and its relevance for nurses and other health professionals.
Evaluate and discuss critically the main routes used for drug administration, drawing on examples of their application in clinical practice.
Reflect critically on the pros and cons of using different routes for drug administration in a range of clinical contexts.
This unit should take one week to study.
