What problems do you expect to encounter when recovering and evaluating traces (chemical, biological, physical) at the scene of a plane crash? Be specific for different types of traces.

Description

Answer any and all questions posed by the instructor completely and correctly, being sure to demonstrate you have read and understand the reading material and its relevance to the topics presented. Discussions must meet the requirements of responsiveness, communication of ideas, critical thinking and analysis, technical details.

You are a supervising crime scene investigator en route to the scene of a small plane crash in the middle of Gotham City. You have little information at this time, so you are not sure if this was an accidental crash or if this was a possible terror attack—as the supervisor and scene coordinator, it will be your responsibility to direct other investigators and triage any recovered objects, traces or other potentially evidentiary materials. Since the cause of the crash is under investigation, you will have to treat the scene as if all scenarios are possible (from accident to terrorism).

Consider the following:

1. How will you structure the process of identifying any remains recovered—remember, there could be people from inside the plane as well as from the street. BE SPECIFIC on the identification methods you would employ and how you would CONFIRM identities.

2. How will you determine whether or not any of the deceased victims had any drugs or alcohol in their system? BE SPECIFIC with the tests you would want conducted. How would such information assist you with determining whether or not drugs/alcohol were involved with the incident?

3. You have recovered some large duffel bags at the scene that you believe were on the plane. You are not sure who they belonged to and you are not entirely sure what they contained—the bags could have been simply carrying personal items of the passengers or they could have been housing explosive devices. What sort of tests would you want conducted

(a) to determine whether or not the bags were carrying explosives and

(b) to whom the bag might have belonged.

To address these questions, consider what TRACES you would be looking for in either case.

4. What problems do you expect to encounter when recovering and evaluating traces (chemical, biological, physical) at the scene of a plane crash? Be specific for different types of traces.

Doesn’t matter the amount of pages just HAS to be a minimum of 400 words. Must number the answers. Must use citations from what article you got the answers from. Make sure all reference material is properly cited.
