2) In response to information presented from our course this semester, identify and explain the three most significant challenges facing law enforcement agencies in the United States today and craft a proposal for sustainable solutions in response to each challenge through a fact-based situation analysis addressing the purpose, role and primary duties of police officers and the nature and relationship between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve.
3) Address the use of force, including deadly force, approaches to crisis intervention, and how data and other information is presented through social and traditional media to influence opinion and impact public policy.
4) Lastly, consider emphasizing solutions based upon policing by consent incorporating Sir Robert Peel’s Nine Principles for Law Enforcement from the Metropolitan Police Act of 1829 (also available on Canvas).
