Description
Each student will be given a portfolio of real assets which you can assume has been previously managed by an existing fund manger; you will take over as the new fund manager which effect from your chosen commencement date. The date I have selected to takeover the fund is the 1st October 2020.
The requirements for the assignment are:
1. To measure and discuss the fund’s performance (capital, dividend and interest etc) from the portfolio inception date (2nd January 2018) to the chosen commencement date (1st October 2020).
2. To identify and where appropriate measure, the main risks inherent in the portfolio which could stop the fund meeting its objectives.
The discussion and analysis should centre on stock specific, asset allocation and measurement risks. Please use charts and graphs to visually demonstrate this.
3. Discuss key recommendations of changes which should be made to the portfolio to ensure it meets the aims of the fund in the investment horizon. The current fund and its aims can be seen on the attached file.
Respected research systems such as Bloomberg, Digital Look, etc should be used.
Marketing criteria:
20% marks= Analysis of the past performance of the fund (02/01/2018-01/10/2020). A comprehensive and imaginative evaluation linked to the
main aims of the portfolio will get you top marks.
30% of marks= Identify and measure the risks which the fund faces in the current climate. For top marks all risks should be identified, with a comprehensive analysis on how these impact the aims of the portfolio and measurement of risk.
40% of marks= Outline the key recommendations for the changes to the existing portfolio with consideration given to key investment theories. All changes to the portfolio should be backed up with references. Please note that my portfolio has restrictions in the attached fund factsheet.
10% of marks= The layout and formatting of the essay. Along with spelling and grammar checks.
