Ethicists, this is your first essay exam. You will be writing as Kantian deontologists, so use the guides on the Announcements page. We will review these on Monday. There is no class on Wednesday, so you have a whole week to write this essay.
Choose one of the four options on the essay exam. Write at least two pages, and be thorough, but don’t restate your earlier comments. You should write your essay in this format:
Introduction: Explain the position you will be taking (for or against).
Body of the essay: Defend your position. Make your points IN PARAGRAPH FORM. Use as many paragraphs as you need to defend your position. Be logical and concise.
Conclusion: Show in your conclusion a summary of how you defended your position.
Don’t use religion to make your point. Your religion can inform your position, but do not use anything that smacks of “because G-d said so” to defend your view.
Don’t use emotivism. Be logical and consistent. Is your argument universalizablfkte? Is it reciprocal?
Have fun!
