Assignment:
10-minute recorded presentation addressing the following question:
“What do you understand by the term Global Popular Musics? With specific reference to one musical genre or style, discuss how popular musics globally have emerged from – and been transformed by – cultural contact and exchange brought about by the movement of people and technological developments. You may want to reference the role of music in relation to issues such as identity, politics, religion, etc.”
Please submit an audio file of your presentation, plus accompanying slides (PowerPoint or PDF format).
Criteria:
The presentation demonstrates an original and exceptionally effective approach to the
material or topic as the result of significant independent research. Argumentation will be
exceptionally clear, nuanced, effective, and show a high level of spoken English. Sources will
be thoughtfully interpreted. The delivery will be engaging throughout with excellent
supportive (printed and/or audio-visual) material, and will generate a lively discussion.
