Description
Read Gallop’s “The Ethics of Reading: Close Encounters” and upload a summary/synthesis response of the article (as a .doc file). Consult the Summary/Synthesis document, in the “assignments” folder of course content, for a detailed explanation of how to respond to course readings.
Restated shortly, for each reading you will respond with two (long) paragraphs:
The first paragraph summarizes the text (providing what the text claimed on its own terms, not evaluating or judging the text’s argument)
The second paragraph synthesizes the text with your own thoughts (by pointing out things that you think are important/agree with, things that you disagree with and what you think might be said/done differently, or asking questions regarding what the text claimed).
