ARTICLE CRITIQUE WEEK 1

The topic of leadership in organizations has been researched in the organizational sciences for decades to attempt to explain how this variable affects performance at the individual, group, and organizational levels of analysis.
Although leadership can be defined using many different interpretations of the effectiveness of a leader, for the purposes of this course, we will approach leadership from a decidedly positive psychological perspective. However, keep in mind that we can learn a great deal about how to cope with poor leadership by studying how leader personality traits such as narcissism, charisma, and personal outlook influence the leader-follower relationship. Most research on leadership has shown that in order for a leader to be effective, in a positive way, a leader must have a clear sense of self and a sincere desire to develop those around him/her.
