What statement/argument is Fitzgerald making about the human experience? Is he arguing something about American life in the 20’s? Is he commenting on how wealth impacts people? Is he making a statement on a person’s capacity to transcend his/her socioeconomic status? Is he criticizing people who are too focused on their goals?
There are differing sets of rules according to one’s wealth.
There are limits to how far one can transcend their socioeconomic status.
Having a dream and trying to achieve it is commendable; however, a person who blindly follows a dream will encounter great difficulty..
Wealth cannot come without some form of corruption.
The American Dream is not achievable.
