The essay outline will consist of an introduction/thesis statement, details about the topic, theoretical orientation, literature review (utilize information from annotated bibliography), and arguments and discussion
(1) how does this framework or lens explain the issue under examination?
(2) what are the implications for practice of looking at this issue through this lens? and conclude with the legacy of the lens that we should consider for progressive or transformative practice.
Focus on power structures, systems and dominant or normative practices. How did we arrive at doing certain things as normal practices, what other things are not considered or avoided? why? Who determines what is normal for racialized communities and mental health?theoretical orientation.
Consumer survivor lens may be fine for the topic, or even post psychiatry, which talks about cultural context being taken into consideration. Looking at it from the consumer survival concept. where the minority population effect by the social determinants of health in low-income communities, struggling with poverty, joblessness but they still survive and are in the system.
