The good and Bad of social media
Does your paper have an overall clear evaluation of a topic and clearly state its overall positive/negative nature in some way?
Does each paragraph connect back to the overall evaluation clearly?
Content:
Is all relevant context/background provided?
Do your topic sentences make evaluative claims about a positive/negative aspect of your overall paper topic?
Do your claims have convincing evidence to support them?
Is the evidence strong and representative of the overall topic? (Think: Do I have more evidence than just my own personal experience? Is my sample size big enough?)
Is the evidence you provide relevant to the claim you are making?
Is your evidence accompanied by discussion, which shows the reader how it backs up the claim and why it is significant?
Organization:
Does your introduction present appropriate background information or context about your topic?
With the exception of your thesis statement, is your introduction non-evaluating?
Is the topic statement located at the end of your introduction?
Does each body paragraph cover one idea?
Does each body paragraph open with a topic sentence that is clear and concise?
Does each body paragraph present evidence and discussion in a logical order?
Does each body paragraph end with a sentence that summarizes the main claim/point of the paragraph?
Do you include transitional phrases or sentences to move smoothly between different
paragraphs?
