Entrepreneurship

1. Schumpeter describes the ‘entrepreneur as a ‘deviant’. How does this view of an
entrepreneur fit with current research centred on and around entrepreneurial
activity today?

You need to bring together many academic themes, arguments and theories to make
you work robust. You also need to conduct research and debates key areas so as to
make your work ‘rounded’ so as to offer as many viewpoints as you see fit in order to
back up your argument.

Question 1

The student needs to offer a good introduction to their work by giving key theory on key authors’ views and research into mainstream theories of entrepreneurial behaviour, which aims to form the foundation of your debate, giving at least 4/5
radical areas of debate which will be expanded upon within the main text.

This
needs to be built and developed upon, to include contemporary research and show
how the role of the entrepreneur has developed and contributed to society within
the three avenues of theory displaying entrepreneurial action.

The economic, social

and psychological all have their merits, similarities; but they are different, and it is
this final bit you need to highlight. You need to debate these within your assignment
highlighting how each plays a key role in entrepreneurial development.

You need to offer clear views on what characteristics/traits a potential entrepreneur may have and how this may develop into actions which may help the economy.

Key areas of debate need to include how Schumpeter evolved his theory on entrepreneurial behaviour (Schumpeter 1 & 2). You then need to relate this to other
key authors’ and building the debate/argument to include at least 10/15 other

authors’ views. By doing this you will both expand and reinforce your argument on
what constitutes major entrepreneurial theory in today’s environment. You may wish
to include if Schumpeter’s 1934 view of the world is relevant today-make your case.
The work needs to be in an essay format using Harvard referencing.
