• Identify the seven-step planned change process (GIM)
• Identify 7 skills needed for working with individuals and the GIM
• Discuss the micro skills, interviewing process, verbal/nonverbal behaviors as identified in chapter 2
• Define the following terms and give an example of each Warmth Empathy Genuineness Personality Self-determination Empowerment
• Identify the major goal of any interview with a client
• Identify the importance of Interviewing Verbal and non-verbal behaviors…give examples
• Identify the Steps for “starting the interview”…give an example of each
• Explain the importance of effective communication during the interviewing process
• Identify (13) skills and techniques that can help with the interviewing process…give an example of each
• Explain (5) challenges that may occur during the interviewing process
• Explain the (6) challenges that may occur during the interviewing process with an involuntary (hostile) client
• Explain the importance of cross-cultural awareness during the interviewing process • Importance of terminating the interview (6 steps)
• Per chapter 2, explain the micro-practice skills in multiple roles: broker, enabler, mediator, negotiator, educator, evaluator, case manager/coordinator, advocate
