Public Interest Groups
The progression of intergovernmental relations has become more political over time, particularly as subnational units compete for scarce resources in a competitive federal system.
First, what strategies can governmental and/or Public Interest Groups (PIGs) utilize to promote their interests in a vast system of actors where they are but a voice in the chorus of issues.
Second, identify one or two issues in your state or local area that you observe have or would benefit from attention by interest groups lobbyists for federal assistance (i.e. financial, policy, administrative, etc.).
This discussion meets course learning objective 1: Demonstrate an understanding of the nature of the American federal system and course learning objective 2: Demonstrate an understanding of the nature of public, private, and nonprofit organizations and how they interrelate.
