Overview
For this project, you will be asked to think more carefully about the rhetorical purpose of several of the sources about your chosen topic. You will select three sources one scholarly, one popular, and one other source–from your research and complete the rhetorical analysis activity using textual evidence to support your claims for each one.
That is, you will gather the information to make an evaluation about the rhetorical
effectiveness of the author for three different sources you plan to use in your future
writing about your topic. You will also write a reflection to submit along with the
completed project.

In order to have a clear understanding about multiple, credible perspectives on your

With this assignment, you will focus on the rhetorical effectiveness of

We ask questions like what choices have the author(s) made that allow you to believe the source you have selected is a trustworthy? Is the organization/presentation an effective way to convey that particular information? How does the evidence work to support that particular argument being made by a source? Thinking about sources in this way is part of developing your critical reading and research skills and your ability to select and utilize good quality, effective sources.
