In an ideal society where all employees were treated equally and fairly, there would be no need for employment laws.

However, because discrimination and other corrupt practices do occur in business, protection under the law is necessary.

The United States, for example, has established laws that prevent employers from discriminating against employees based on a number of characteristics, including race, gender, and age.

There are other laws that govern the provision of accessible work accommodations for individuals with disabilities.

As needs arise, additional laws may be passed, often as a result of significant court cases involving inequalities in business environments. These laws are intended not only to protect employees but the organizations as well.
