Is there an approach or a corporate orientation that would help neutralize such forces, in particular new entrants?

Michael porter developed his five forces model to analyze the competitive environments of various industries within a place in which competition will take place.

For example, barriers to entry is one of the five forces. Another is the threat of substitute products or services.

Each provides a potential threat to the  competitive advantage that a firm might have.

Is there an approach or a corporate orientation that would help neutralize such forces, in particular new entrants?  How can value innovation protect against or minimize such a threat?  Provide specific examples.

Is there one approach or orientation that would help neutralize all threats identified in the Porter model?
