Media Literacy is a crucial skill for everyone so that we have a clear understanding of current events and how they impact our world, our country, our community, and ourselves.

Many of you are probably aware of “fake news” but this is not a problem restricted to our contemporary society. Throughout history, people have manipulated the media of their time to send the message of their choosing.

In American history, this was referred to as “yellow journalism” in the late 1800s. Today we call it “fake news.”

Expectations and Deliverables

Find two online articles choose one article from a media source you consider reliable, and choose your second article from a media source you consider unreliable.

The topic of your two articles needs to be one of the following topics:

Politics, Health, or Technology. In your post, assess the reliability and unreliability of each source using the Six Questions from the American Press Institute article. Include a link to each article (this is required). The minimum response is 250 words, not including citations.
