Question
To fully understand and appreciate lifespan development, you must be able to understand development from the various theoretical perspectives. No one perspective will fully explain development and so you must be able to understand what each one says and identify the strengths and weaknesses of each of the theories.
Additionally, to gain knowledge in the field, psychologists and researchers use a variety of research methods. These research methods have specific strengths, limitations, ethical considerations, and can only be used to address specific research problems.
The purpose of this assignment is to create a “cheat sheet” for the various theoretical perspectives and research methods for conducting research in Human Development.
Objectives
Upon completion of this assignment, you will be able to:
Define the fundamental concepts associated with the principles of human growth and development (CCO1)
Apply major human development theoretical perspectives with data derived from research to maximize potentials and/or resolve developmental issues that typically occur in each phase of life (CCO2)
Identify the advantages and disadvantages of the various research methods, including the ethical considerations, used to study human development throughout the lifespan (CCO3)
