STEP 1: Revisit the assignment sheet for this major assignment and read the “Remix Plan: A How-To” section on pages 192-193 in Chapter 6 of your textbook. Be sure, also, to read the student sample Remix Plans on pages 194-195.
STEP 2: Write a 1-paragraph summary that describes how you want to remix the position you took in your position paper. This paragraph will serve as your “Proposal Abstract” (page 192 of your textbook).
STEP 3: Complete the steps described in “Analyzing Situations: A How-To” (page 197) in your textbook. Write a one-paragraph description of the situation that you hope to change. Include your rationale behind your choice of situation. Remember that smaller-scale situations are often more easily changed and you cannot effectively analyze an audience until you’ve identified a specific situation.
STEP 4: Complete the steps described in “Analyzing Audiences: A How-To” in Chapter 6 (page 198) of your textbook. Write a one-paragraph description of the audience that you hope to target with your Remixed Position. Include your rationale behind your choice of audience. Remember that you will need to identify an incredibly specific audience that has the power to make the change you’re seeking and you cannot effectively analyze mode or media without identifying a specific audience.
STEP 5: Complete the steps described in “Analyzing Modes: A How-To” in Chapter 6 (page 200) of your textbook. Write a one-paragraph description of the mode or modes that you hope to target beyond the written word with your Remixed Position. Include your rationale behind your choice of modes. Remember that you will need to remix your writing into a multimodal composition that pairs writing with meaningful sounds, visuals, gestures, or spaces.
STEP 6: Complete the steps described in “Analyzing Media: A How-To” in Chapter 6 (page 202) of your textbook. Write a one-paragraph description of the medium that you want to use to bring about change to the situation, reach your audience, and support your modes of communication. Include your rationale behind your choice of media platform. Be specific.
STEP 7: Assemble your paragraphs from Steps 2-6 above to create a 5-paragraph remix plan. Ensure that you have all the parts of a remix plan:
Your proposal abstract
Your rationale for the situation you are choosing
Your rationale for the audience you are choosing
Your rationale for the mode you are choosing
Your rationale for the medium you are choosing to deliver your remixed composition
Your request for approval
