Main Objective of the assessment
You should be able to demonstrate
• an understanding of relevant theoretical frameworks, appropriate models and theories on change, creativity and innovation.
• an ability to apply these frameworks and models to empirical examples.
• an ability to critically evaluate the context and examples.
Description of the Assessment
Evaluate whether it is employers’ responsibility to attempt to foster appropriate enabling environment to support employees’ creativity. Apply one of the following theories to assist your discussion:
• Leadership and creativity
Points to discuss:
• Demonstrate that ‘the physical toil of manufacturing is being replaced by a world where we work more with our heads than our hands’ (Sewell,
2005) and the shift from industrial organization to human relations in workplaces.
• Discuss how the turn to knowledge economy has also led to changes in working arrangements and expectations from workers.
• Apply the theory of choice and examine the role of management practice in supporting organizational creativity and innovation.
The following marking criteria will be used to assess your work. More detail on how these match to different grade bands are shown on a separate marking matrix
• Your assignment should not be more than 2750 words and not less than 2250 words.
• Structured well and presented in an appropriate essay format in line with the requirements of the assessment brief. We recommend that you
segment your assignment by using meaningful headings and sub-headings.
• Written in an academic style which is concise and coherent.
• Be as specific and clear as possible in explaining and supporting your claims.
• Use examples, well-chosen quotes and data where appropriate. Specify your sources clearly in the assignment.
• Your assignment should include both a description and an analysis/interpretation, with emphasis on the latter. The linkage to course concepts
should be explicit. Although you need not explain or describe the course concepts in great depth, you should describe them briefly and provide
references/citations to their sources. Explicitly mention (and reference) course materials that are directly relevant to your analysis.
• Use Harvard referencing correctly throughout the essay.
