Analyze the provided data to compare group differences and perform other relevant statistics

OVERVIEW: You will learn how to conduct live animal investigations using echoMRI imaging and the Promethion Metabolic System. The principles of both experimental systems will be explored and animals will be introduced into the Promethion System for 1 week of monitoring. Mice of different strains or ages will be utilized such that you can interrogate and interpret the differences between mouse phenotype on the endpoint measures, using common graphical and statistical techniques. A written lab report in the form of a journal article will be submitted, which is common in biomedical sciences submissions. ASSESSMENT STRUCTURE: For this assessment, you will perform and submit an example experiment utilising real data. You will obtain the data from the EchoMRI imager and Promethion System, which you will then need to assess to decide which data is the most appropriate to analyse to answer the question you have decided (or been given) to answer. The data can be manipulated and statistically analysed using Microsoft Excel or a statistics software package. These programs can also create figures for you. You will write up the experiment in the form of a journal article. You are required to use the Journal of Applied Physiology format, complete with Authors & affiliations, Abstract, Introduction, Method, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements, Contributions and References. INSTRUCTIONS: Read the background document on the EchoMRI and Promethion Systems (Lab manual attached). Analyze the provided data to compare group differences and perform other relevant statistics. Create Figures and Tables clearly displaying the findings in a scientifically correct manner. Write up the findings in the form of a journal article in the Journal of Applied Physiology format. ASSESSMENT CRITERIA: Introduction: Research Question clearly defined with sufficient background information; Aims and Hypotheses clear and testable Methods clearly described Results in both written and visual form, with Figures and Tables conforming to scientific conventions Discussion: Interpret and discuss the data, relating it to current knowledge and referring back to the Research Question and Hypotheses Presentation: All sections in order, well-formatted, no grammatical or spelling errors, very readable and well referenced. Please also refer to rubric attached. Results of experiment will also be uploaded in Excel. Please watch the videos in the Dropbox Folder:
