What can you learn about using language and rhetoric to communicate persuasively?
Compare a set of readings given in Module 5 (Women’s Rights, Factory Farming, or Effects of Modern Technology). Do the readings use logos, pathos, or ethos to make their arguments? Does one reading use more of one mode of persuasion than the other reading? Identify at least one quote or passage that shows the use of logos, pathos, or ethos. Why do you think it is effective? If you have trouble identifying the rhetorical appeals, check out this analysis of a letter you read in the last module, “Letter from Birmingham JailĀ (Links to an external site.).”
How can you apply these methods to your own research project (which is a research project on understanding the rules, regulations, and guidelines of what is required in order to become a school administrator)?
