11.13 Persuading Employees to Join a Competition
Your supervisor has decided the employees of the com-pany should participate in a weight-loss program and compete against the business across the street. Your supervisor isn’t sure how to begin the program and is asking you for some ideas. She wants to know: ■ How can we get employees interested in the weight-loss program? ■ Will a competition get more employees to sign up? ■ How long should we run the program? ■ Should we have a goal? ■ What should the program be called? ■ Should there be a prize at the end for the person who lost the most weight?
■ Should we get rid of Friday morning doughnuts dur-ing the program? ■ Should we have some healthy eating and healthy living seminars to encourage our employees to be healthier? Write an e-mail to your supervisor answering her questions. Then write an e-mail that will go to all employees. Include all the information they will need and use persuasion to get them to join the weight-loss program. Write a third e-mail to your instructor explain-ing the differences between the e-mails to your supervi-sor and your fellow employees
