Group research presentation brief
Critically evaluate two of the following approaches in relation to one of the case studies:
Predictive risk factors; ecological approach; or cultural context perspectives.
You will need to demonstrate your understanding of theories relating to risk and the ability to detect and understand potential discrimination in risk assessment practices, in relation to at least two areas of anti-oppressive practice.
It will be important to work together in your group to research this topic in order to present your findings to the student cohort and the tutors.
Learning outcomes for assessment
• Critically evaluate, analyse and explain (with support), the research evidence into the effectiveness of different approaches within social work practice.
• Critically evaluate, with support, different methods and approaches from an anti-oppressive perspective.
• Demonstrate a critical awareness of risk theories and the practice issues involved in the assessment of risk, with reference to specific areas of service provision.
