The assignment is to identify the main problems presented by the UK statistics on incomes and well-being. These include statistics from the National Accounts and the Human Development Index. There are five headings in which the statistics must be assessed. Relevant information has been included in the additional files. The additional files should be read through carefully as they are very important – especially “Statistical Quality”. Information in “Lecture V” and “Lecture VI” is also accessible elsewhere (albeit not as concise). There is some information in Lecture V and VI that is not strictly relevant, i.e. information on poverty in Lecture VI is not as relevant because the question does not mention poverty. No introduction or conclusion is necessary. Each heading need not have equal weighting (in terms of the word count).
