Things to consider in your analysis: Who created it? When? Who was its audience? What artistic movement were they a part of? What was going on in art then, and how does it reflect the politics of the time? How was it used? How did it function in its context? What is its style? What did it “say” to a contemporary viewer? Bear in mind the ideas, concepts, and themes we discussed in class such as the Reformation, the consolidation of power in states, the Enlightenment etc.
