Please research and post two images of famous photographers. The first image should depict a subject who is being treated as an object or inferior being. The second image should feature The Other in a way that recognizes the subject’s common humanity. Please explain how the two photographs are visually different. Explore your ethnical responsibilities to two different groups of subjects: those who are strangers to you, and those you know intimately. The first group you’ll call “The Other.” The second group you know as your family: your children, siblings, spouse, and parents. When photographing “The Other,” you must consider your cultural and social position relative to your subject. The ethnical issues here are about exploitation—taking advantage of people less fortunate than you. With your family, you must consider issues of public access to private issues—in other words, privacy. can we be so self-absorbed, so myopic in creating a fantastic image, that we may lose track of others’ feelings?
