Purpose: Minorities are commonly underrepresented in addiction treatment centers, even though there are high rates of addictive disorders among this population. It is important to identify strategies to address treatment concerns and overcome barriers among this population. The goal of this assignment is to explore areas and methods in which services could best reach members of this population.
Instructions: Please identify the barriers (i.e. transportation, insurance, stigma/attitude, etc.) that you believe prevent them from receiving treatment and develop an outreach strategy to address these barriers. Your outreach program should identify a setting in which it will be implemented and what techniques will be utilized to address the identified barriers.
