Pick two of the empirical articles most interesting to you and write a 2-page paper that relates some aspect of those articles to your own experience or someone close to you. End with at least two (2) possible research questions. I have attached the two articles to this file.
Rubric
2 points: Identifying the research question (in your own words!) in the article (1 point for each article)
4 points: Writing about how the empirical article connects to your own experience or that of someone close to you. The connection does not have to be exact – the empirical article may simply remind you of a similar phenomenon you have witnessed – but the connection between the two should be clear and thoughtful. (2 points for each article)
2 points: Conceiving of at least two possible research questions. These should build on (but not be identical to) the questions raised in the article as well as your own experience (or that of someone close to you). Be creative with your questions, but also make sure they can be realistically tested. (1 point for at least 1 question from each article)
1 point: Length. This assignment should be approximately 2 pages, double-spaced, 12-point font, 1-inch margins.
