Analytical research paper
An exciting component of this course is writing up an analytical research paper based on secondary data. Many organizations collect data for research or administrative purposes. Many of these datasets are available on the internet. Use authentic and trustworthy data to conduct your secondary research.
You will select a topic of your interest, search for appropriate datasets, conduct a relevant literature review, use different data display techniques, and write up a research paper. During the course, we will have a detailed discussion on this research paper.
This paper should contain an abstract, introduction, literature review, methods, results, conclusion, and references.
The abstract (around 200 words) should highlight the aim of the study, sources of data, major findings and implications. In the introduction, introduce the topic, provide a background to the issue and describe your research problem.
In the literature review section, summarize the existing knowledge on that topic. In the methods section, describe how the data were collected by the organization that published it.
In the results section, present your
findings. You should include some tables and graphs in this section and interpret them. Discuss your findings in the context of the literature review. In the concluding section, summarize the findings and draw your conclusions.
In this section, you may also highlight some of the limitations of your study and provide recommendations for future research. Add a list of references at the end of your paper. Follow the APA referencing style for this paper. (Length: 10-12 pages, double spaced)
