In-Game Advertising and Sales Promotion
Your Midterm Paper should focus on the use of advertising and sales promotion in digital games. This is not about how the game is played or strategies used to win. What you are going to be writing about is how brands use games as an environment to deliver their brand messages, increase brand name exposure, and promote their image within each game. This includes activities, such as product placement, when the products or services appear in the game, even without advertising, but are clearly recognizable and prominently displayed.
Your research and analysis should begin with an identification and description of the most popular games in the following five categories:
Sports/Recreation
Action/Adventure,
Fantasy/Science Fiction
Entertainment/Fun Activities
Life Styles/Personal Choice
The paper must be 4 to 5 pages in length, double spaced, and include a listing of the articles or references, along with the website URL’s.
Screen shots that show the use of advertising, sales promotion, or product placement must be included, but placed in an Appendix at the end of the report. Other page links, when appropriate, can be included.
