Week 3 Discussion
The Federalists versus Anti-Federalists struggle for supremacy reflects a challenge with the same issues we’re experiencing today.
Marijuana laws, Coronavirus response/ public health, civil rights, immigration: these are a sampling of issues which raise the issue of federalism.
On which concerns do we want the state to govern itself? In which concerns do we want the federal to take responsibility for dictating policy for the entire nation? Why? Post a political cartoon from the late 18th/ early 19th century which features the controversy of federalism.
Then post a political cartoon from the modern day which satirizes the same issue. Explain why the cartoons are analogous.
