Compose a persuasive response (500 words minimum) that expresses an opinion about Gilligan’s claims that are specifically addressed in the light green, light blue, and yellow highlighted sections of the article.
Develop a thesis and underline the thesis in the introductory paragraph of the essay.
Agree or disagree with Gilligan that “It would be beneficial to every man, woman and child in America, and harmful to no one, if we were to demolish every prison in this country and replace them with locked, safe and secure home-like residential communities ,” but take a firm stand in your thesis.
IMPORTANT: A supporting paragraph of your essay response must specifically respond to the following questions: “The only mystery is: Why is this program not being adopted by every jail and prison in the country? Why are taxpayers not demanding that this be done?”
This assignment requires a minimum of two direct quotations from the Gilligan source and at least one quotation from the secondary online source that you select.
Each quotation must be at least two complete lines of text but not more than four lines of text, placed in separate paragraphs, and must pertain to the content of that paragraph. Your source selection must conform to Item 8 in the “Instructor Addendum to the Syllabus.”
