The course is a Ancient Religions “myth and rituals” class

Instructions
Course Objectives:
CO1: Explain what myth and ritual are and are not and compare myths to other “stories” such as legends and folktales.
CO2: Discuss the purpose of mythology and rituals, both in contemporary society and in ancient times.
CO3: Discuss universal characteristics or themes common to all myths.

Description:

For this paper, choose a myth we have explored in this course thus far and in your own words, write a 3-5 page (1000–1500 words) analysis of that myth (not including the title page or reference page).

In your analysis, address the following questions:

1. What is the greater meaning of this myth?
2. What do the various symbols within the myth represent?
3. Who are the characters and what do they represent?
4. What are the basic human issues addressed within the myth?
5. What does this myth tell you about its culture and its corresponding values?

When delving into your analysis, be sure you are supporting your ideas with information from scholarly sources. Also, any summary of the myth should be concise. Your primary focus should be analyzing and interpreting the underlying meaning of your chosen myth. It is also important to connect points back to specific elements of your chosen myth’s culture. The APUS Online Library is a great place to look for sources and information relating to mythology. Please also keep in mind that details from your chosen myth should be cited in the body of the text.
