Assignment 2: Impact of Suicide
Suicide – understanding its impact and the social dynamics of those who attempt and commit suicide
Overview
In Assignment one, the reasons and rationale behind our understanding and perceptions about death were explored. In Assignment two, you’ll be applying your knowledge about how death is perceived to death caused by suicide.
Current estimates suggest that 800,000 to one million people commit suicide worldwide each year. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), in 2012 suicide was the 10th leading cause of death in the United States; the total number of suicide deaths was 40,600 or one every 12.9 minutes in the US. More people die from suicide than in car accidents.
This paper will examine the impact that suicide has upon the lives of people, and provide you with “hands on experience” in learning about the many dynamics of those who attempt and commit suicide and upon the survivor victims of suicide.
