Using all the materials, concepts, and readings from the course , try to write up a “DEI audit” of Austin Channing Brown’s experiences in working in churches and non-profits. An audit should provide a snapshot of the institutional culture and the experiences of minorities in those institutions. While we do not know what DEI policies or surveys were in place, we can use the samples discussed in class as our baselines. Do Brown’s experiences suggest the policies are effective?
Would a survey audit identify any areas that would need attention? Also, consider if Brown’s narrative identifies issues that traditional DEI policies or surveys omit and explain why those documents tend to omit them .The final paper should be between 10-12 pages, demonstrate a mastery of DEI concepts and an ability to apply them to a concrete situation, edited & spell-checked, and include citations.
