Look at the events from 1979–2001. During this period, there were a multitude of events such as hurricanes, flooding, and earthquakes that required a presidential declaration for assistance in that particular state.

Was the United States prepared for this event?
Did our disaster response meet the needs of the communities impacted by the event?
Were special programs, resources, or monies created to better prepare for another event similar to this one?
Describe how the transition of FEMA changed emergency management and disaster response.
