Describe what happens during an action potential. What does it mean when we say an action potential is an “all or none” thing? What is the purpose of the myelin sheath and what happens if it is gone?

This week, we are covering the biological foundations of behavior, including the activity and anatomy of neurons and neurotransmitters, the process of an action potential (neural impulse), brain regions, and methods to study the brain (such as neuroimaging).

1. Describe what happens during an action potential. What does it mean when we say an action potential is an “all or none” thing? What is the purpose of the myelin sheath and what happens if it is gone?
2. Pick a lobe, any lobe! The frontal, parietal, occipital, or temporal. Describe some of the areas and main functions of the lobe. Using Infographic 2.1: Ways to Study the Living Brain (SEE ATTACHED), how would you use one of the ways to study the living brain(CAT/CT scans, EEG, MRI, fMRI, PET) to study your lobe? What experiment would you perform? Tell us your hypothesis, IV, and DV.
Please answer every part of question 1 and 2!!!!!

Answers should be a minimum of 11 sentences in length, should be well thought out, should show critical thinking about the topic, and should be based on evidence from the readings (with included citations and References).

3. You should also identify a concept from this week’s lessons that was either interesting or confusing. You should explain the concept in your own words, and you should explain why it was interesting or confusing. Minimum 6 sentences.
(This topic should be about ACETYCHOLINE GLUTAMATE and GABA)

PLEASE USE THE ATTACHED POWERPOINT FOR THE SOURCES AND CITATIONS IN QUESTIONS 1 AND 2 AND TO WRITE ABOUT THE INTERESTING/CONFUSING TOPIC

One of the references must be the book title written in the powerpoint
